Weighing on the Allahabad High Court’s verdict in Aarushi Talwar’s case that declared her parents innocent, actor Konkona Sensharma, who played Nupur Talwar in Talvar, says it is shameful that it took nine years for justice to be served to the family.

Nupur and Rajesh Talwar were acquitted on Thursday in the murder case of daughter Aarushi and domestic help Hemraj in 2008 by the Allahabad High Court, which stressed it was giving them the benefit of doubt.

Konkona called it a fantastic news before adding that it saddens her that the perpetrators of the crime are still not brought to justice.

“It is a fantastic news. I am very happy for the Talwars. It is a shame that it took nine years for the innocence to have been proven. It is also tragic that we still don’t know who the killers of Aarushi and Hemraj are. But I am very happy for the Talwars,” she said on the red carpet of Jio MAMI 19th Mumbai Film Festival.

In the morning of May 16, 2008, Aarushi was found with her throat slit in her bed. Hemraj was discovered dead the next day on the terrace of the apartment building in Noida.
